CIIC is authorized to publish and live broadcast major national news events, press conferences of state ministries and the annual sessions of the annual sessions of the National Peoples’ Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Established in 2014, CIIC’s social media department uses social medial to build a new international communication platform. As of October 2014, CIIC has opened 12 comprehensive official accounts and two special accounts, attracting more than 1,000,000 followers who speak English, French, Japanese, Spanish, Russian and Arabic.
